Character-Tag Blog

I’m not sure who’s idea the Character-tag Blog was, but I really like the idea

Emma Tett http://emmy-j.blogspot.co.uk/2014/07/shuttered-q.html  has passed the Character-tag questions to me and I’ll pass it on to Sophie Bonaste http://sophiebonaste.blogspot.com

Here are the questions.

1. What is the name of your character? Is he/she fictional or a historic person?

My main character is Daniel Larson, and while he’s certainly a big part of my ‘history’ as an author, he has no actual historic significance.

2. When and where is the story set?

The story is set in contemporary times in Connecticutt.

3. What should we know about him/her?

Daniel lost his lover and the lower part of his left leg in a bombing in Afghanistan five years before the story starts. He’s walled himself off from the world, and while he didn’t actually die in the incident, he’s no longer truly living either, until he meets Jonah Thacker.

4. What is the main conflict? What messes up his/her life?

Jonah and Daniel are instantly attracted but try to keep it professional. As they become closer friends, however, Daniel’s homophobic uncle does everything in his power to keep them apart.

5. What is the personal goal of the character?

Daniel’s only goal up until meeting Jonah is to get through another day so that he can get back home tbe by himself. He’s a professor of languages at a local college and he likes his job, but he doesn’t want the entanglement of friends or even acquaintances outside of work. His goals drastically change once he meets Jonah. Now he only wants to be there for Jonah as Ethan (Jonah’s handicapped son) has more and more medical problems.

6. Is there a working title for this novel, and can we read more about it?

The title is Living Again.

7. When can we expect the book to be published?

Living Again is coming out July 21st from Dreamspinner Press.
